Description
This fortress of the Baekje Dynasty (18 B.C.-A.D. 660), located 500m east of Busosan Mountain, was made of packed earth. To defend the path linking Sabi and Ungjin, it was constructed with the Naseong, the outer wall of the city, in 605, the sixth year of the reign of King Mu. The north wall of the fortress was connected to the Naseong, and was apparently built as a flank reinforcement to strengthen the more vulnerable Naseong. Its major task was probably to protect Sabi, the capital of the Baekje Dynasty (18 B.C.-A.D. 660), as a subsidiary to Busosanseong Fortress, rather than a single, independent fortress. The fortress consisted of a 300m long inner wall fortified with rocks surrounding the hill and a 500m long outer wall. The inner wall was mostly destroyed. The original shape of the northeastern part of the wall is comparatively intact. Within the fort are the remains of some building foundations.
