Description
This is a fortress wall piled up with stones around the top of Dongsan Mountain 195m above sea level. Today, the wall and the fortress all are destroyed and have been left in ruins. It is not known exactly when the wall was built, but Silla initially constructed a fortress wall in order to prevent invasion by the Japanese pirates through the Nakdonggang River. This wall has a favorable location for seeing the Nakdonggang River far at a glance, with the city of Yangsan at the foot of the mountain. Although it remains in ruins, it gives an important clue for grasping the scale and the structure of the wall and the time when it was built. Since the Singi-ri Fortress wall is similar in the scale of the wall, it had the form of twin walls. The group of tombs and shell mound of Yangsan around the area is located, which are considered as an important source of knowledge on the Silla Period.
