Description

This is the tomb where the 45th king of Silla, King Sinmu, is buried. He ascended to the throne in 839 after killing King Minae with the help of Jang Bo-go, an ambassador to Cheonghaejin Fort, but passed away three months later due to his disease. Named Kim U-jing, he was one of the cousins of the previous kings. This is a circle ground mound with height of 3.4 m and diameter of 15m without any other surrounding facilities. According to Samguk sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms), his posthumous name is Sinmu, and his funeral was held in the northwestern part of Jehyeongsan Mountain; whether this tomb is the one mentioned in the book is uncertain, however.
