Description

King Huigang was the 43rd king of the Silla Dynasty but his reign lasted only three years (A.D.836~838) so no distinct records of his accomplishments have been handed down. The Samguk sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) gives the clue that his burial place was in somewhere called Sosan, but the exact location of Sosan is also not recorded. The tomb is located in the middle of the low hill, and is 3.4m tall and 14m in diameter. It is a circlular tomb constructed of earth, wider at the bottom than at the top. It had been presumed to be the tomb of King Huigang and this finally turned out to be the truth at the end of the Joseon Dynasty. Finally, this is a large-sized tomb but has no special original features of its own, being similar to the tombs of ordinary people at that time.
