Description

This is a 2-story building built of red brick in 1921 to the right of a twin building which was destroyed by fire in 1934. There is no record as to who designed and built it. The window frames in the shape of a pointed arch, the steep roof in Gothic style, and the precise technique of stacking granite and red bricks crosswise all declare this to be typical of the western styled buildings in the early 20th century in Korea. Furthermore, this is the place where the Joseon Youth Movement was founded, and where the June 10 Independence Movement and the Gwangju Student Movement started.
