Description

As a temple site left in the middle of the rice field at the west foot of Dodangsan Mountain, it was destroyed completely, with only building stones and roof tile pieces left at present. Its construction age was assumed to be the beginning of the Unified Silla Period because of a legend of Kim Yu-sin and Cheongwan, a gisaeng (female entertainer), and the excavated broken piece of roof tile. Kim Yu-sin, in his youth, fell in love with a gisaeng named Cheongwan. His mother scolded him, and he swore not to see her again. His horse brought a drunken Kim Yu-sin in front of Cheongwan's house. He cut off his horse’s head and coldly turned her away. She felt so sad she killed herself. Later, he built Cheongwansa Temple in Cheongwan's house and prayed for the repose of Cheongwan's soul.
