Description

This site is used to make ceramics, roof tiles, vessels, etc., and is located on a hill behind Asan Dam of Yonggye-ri. Celadon pieces were also produced here in the overlapping hills. Among the piled hills, 3 overlapped kilns were found, with length of 38, 31, and 14m and width of 1.1-1.2m. The wall and ceiling were heaped with rocks and clay. The celadon made here varied in form: bowls, dishes, bottles, long cups, etc. Engraved on them were clouds, flowers, vines, etc. A roofing tile engraved with Chinese letters meaning the year 1022 (太平壬戌二年銘) was found, proving that it is a celadon kiln site from the beginning of the Goryeo Period in the middle of the 11th Century. It is the longest celadon kiln site of Jeollabuk-do Province and a very important kiln site as the original site before the celadon kiln site was moved to Buan in the 12th century.
