Description
The Jeju-mok government office is the center of politics, administration, and culture in Jeju-do. As a result of the excavation research at this site, the scale and location of the Dongheon (administration office) and the residence of the head officer building site -- the most important facilities from the age of the Tamna Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty -- were found. This research confirmed that the Jeju-mok government office is a very important source of data as the center of Jeju-do from ancient to modern times. Southwest of these ruins is the famous Gwandeokjeong Hall (Treasure No.322), which was built in the 30th year of the reign of the Great King Sejong (1448) for use as training camp for soldiers. This site including Gwandeokjeong was designated and preserved as historical heritage by the Government due to its important function as the center of Jeju-do from the ancient to modern times.
