Description
This temple site offers a spectacular view of Sin-ri in Gyuam-myeon, Buyeo-gun or the so-called Wangeun-ri Village area including Busosanseong Fortress, Nakhwaam Rock, Goransa Temple, and Gudeurae Ferry. There are many Baekje relics scattered all over the site including fragments of earthenware and roof tiles. One of the tile fragments is inscribed with the name “Wangheung.” Judging from the records in Samguk yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) and Samguk sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms), stone remains such as square cornerstone, and oral records on the flagpole supports, Wangheungsa Temple is assumed to have been built during the Baekje Dynasty.
