Description
The Chungnam Institute of History and Culture found some 260 burial sites including 13 tumuli through the excavation of an apartment construction site in Bujang-ri, Seosan in 2004-2005. The burial sites yielded luxurious artifacts such as gilt-bronze crown, sword with ring pommel, and three-legged cauldron with a handle. The tombs and relics are important materials for studying the status and culture of the Seosan area along the west coast during the Baekje Period (18 BC- AD 660). The remains of Tomb No. 1 on the highest level are in very good condition and are useful for history education. The surveyed area was designated as a historic site to protect the remains from further damage and to enable their use for educational purposes.
