Description
This is a rare example of a local government office of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) with two key facilities -- magistrate's office and guesthouse -- relatively well preserved. Records related to this office appear in Yeojidoseo (Detailed Survey of Korean Geography) covering the period 1757-1765, Hongsan eupji (Annals of Hongsan) during the period 1724-1776 after King Yongjo's reign, Hoseo eupji (Annals of Chungcheong-do Province) during the period 1892-1895, and a map of Hongsan-hyeon preserved at the Kyujanggak Archives of Seoul National University.
