Description
Prince Geumseong (1426-1457) was the sixth son of King Sejong. He was executed by his elder brother, King Sejo, for his attempts to reinstate their nephew, the abdicated boy king, Danjong. The altar was built in the 18th century after Danjong was officially reinstated under a policy of impartiality. The altar is a rare monument of human deity worship erected under the Confucian-oriented Joseon Dynasty.
