Description
Excavations of the remaining structures and artifacts discovered at the site in Dogi-dong, Anseong revealed that a fortress was originally built there by Baekje (18 BCE-660) sometime between the fourth and sixth century, and that it was used by Goguryeo (37 BCE-668) after Baekje moved its capital to Ungjin. The site is known to contain the first Goguryeo-period palisade discovered in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. The excavations carried out to date have produced diverse artifacts including tripod-shaped pottery, mounted cups and steamers dating from early Baekje; pottery lids, handled jars, short-neck jars and bowls from Goguryeo; and Gaya pottery (42-562).
