Description

The Lacebark pine is called the "white pine" or the "white bone pine" because the bark of this tree turns white. This tree was introduced from China by missionaries during the Joseon Dynasty. The Lacebark pine of Jae-dong is about 600 years old. Its height is about 17 m and its girth is about 3.82 m. The Lacebark pine is bigger than other tree species. Because the trunk is divided into two, props are set up to protect the Lacebark pine. Since the Lacebark pine in Jae-dong is a rare tree species and is valuable in biology, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
