Description

Distributed in Japan, Taiwan, and China, the Elaeocarpus tree grows near the southern coast of Jeju-do Island in Korea. The Natural Habitat of Elaeocarpus is located at Cheonjiyeon Falls. The 5 Elaeocarpus trees grow in the hillside to the west of Cheonjiyeon Falls. At 9 meters tall, they have branches that spread toward the waterside. The natural habitat of the Elaeocarpus tree at Cheonjiyeon Falls is the northernmost limit of this tree where it can grow naturally and is valued for its rarity. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
