Description
The Seoraksan Mountain Natural Reserve is spread widely in Inje-gun, Yangyang-gun, and Sokcho. The name Seorak means that Daecheongbong Peak, the main ridge, is covered with snow for 5 ~ 6 months. The annual average temperature does not exceed 10 degrees centigrade, so it belongs to the low-temperature zone. The annual precipitation of "Inside Seorak" is 1,000 mm, and that of "Outside Seorak" is 1,300 mm. According to records, animals in the Natural Reserve are reported to be 1,562 kinds and some animals such as Asiatic black bears, musk deer, Long-tailed Goral, Eurasian Otters are designated as a Natural Monument. Moreover, Seoraksan Mountain natural reserve has about 1,013 plants. Since the Seoraksan Mountain Natural Reserve is home to many animals and plants, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
