Description
The Korean name of white forsythia (miseon) means that its fruits are fan-shaped. The shape of the fruits is also similar to the heart symbol. This tree is a rare species, growing only in Korea. It grows to about 1-1.5m, and the tips of its branches droop downward like the golden bell tree. The tree belongs to the same family as the golden bell tree; just like the golden bell tree, its flowers bloom before the leaves come out. The Natural Habitat of White Forsythia in Chujeom-ri, Goesan is in the small mountain beside a rice paddy. This place has big rocks and gravel. Here, there are almost no other big trees except white forsythias. This place has lots of white forsythias that it could be called a stock, but those trees are not growing thickly. Since the Natural Habitat of white forsythia in Chujeom-ri, Goesan is a place where these valuable trees that grow only in Korea thrive, it is designated and protected as a natural monument.
