Description
Chodanggul Cave in Samcheok is a large cave and is assumed to be 4 kilometers long. It consists of limestone in white, light grey, and light red colors. It is also composed of three areas: vertical area, sloping area, and flat area. We can find small and big ponds in that cave. The underground water keeps flowing downward to the bottom floor, and there are rare freshwater lavers. Chodanggul Cave in Samcheok has great value for scientific research because of its cave formations and freshwater lavers. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
