"The Daeamsan and Daeusan Natural Reserve includes Punchball Basin and so-called "Keun Yongneup" (Big dragon moor) and "Jageun Yongneup" (Small dragon moor) around the top of Daeam Mountain, Daeu Mountain, and Dosolsan Mountain. The Punchball area is a circular basin with diameter of 10km. The wall of the basin and surrounding ridgelines consists of gneiss, whereas the bottom of the basin is made up of granite. Around the top of Daeamsan Mountain are highland moors called "Big dragon moor and Small dragon moor." The Small dragon moor lost its original appearance and changed into woodland. Since the Big dragon moor is the only highland moor in Korea with many cloudy days to form a special environment, it provides valuable materials for ecological study. Plant groups are in the Big dragon moor. Rare plants also grow there. The Big dragon moor was found to have 63 kinds of vegetable planktons and 19 kinds of gorals. They are designated as a Natural Monument. Newt and Bombina orientalis also live there. At least 10 kinds of specially growing fish live in Dutayeon Valley, which is connected to this area. Since the Daeamsan and Daeusan Natural Reserve has various geographic features and unusual weather, rare animals and plants live there. It is very valuable as a bio-geographical resource where the south-north and east-west boundaries of animals and plants can be seen. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument."
