Description

"The oriental arborvitae grows in China and Korea. In Korea in particular, it grows in Danyang, Dalseong, Andong, Yeongyang, etc. These trees usually form a forest, taking root on the cliff. The name “cheukbaek” means that the branches of this tree vertically grow. The natural habitat of oriental arborvitae is on the cliff beside the road from Andong to Daegu, and Nakdonggang River flows in front of this place. These trees are assumed to be 100 ~ 200 years old, and about 300 of them grow there. The natural habitat of oriental arborvitae in Guri in Andong is a rare one in Korea. It is designated and conserved as a Natural Monument for its great value."
