Description

The name of Ondaldonggul Cave is derived from the legend of General Ondal built himself a fortress near this cave. This cave has length of 700m and consists of light grey limestone. The entrance is at the side of Namhangang River and the waves of the river come in and out of the cave all the time, so there are few creatures here. The shape inside the cave is a bit simple because waves constantly chip off the walls. Moreover, the various creatures of the ground water can hardly be seen because the water flows from inside of the cave. Nonetheless, there are many stalagmites coming up from the floor of the cave. Ondaldonggul Cave is designated and conserved as a Natural Monument because of its beautiful scenery for sightseeing.
