Description
The pine tree in Seorak-dong stands on the road from Sokcho to Seorak-dong. It is presumed to be 500 years old, with height of 16.5m and girth of 4.03m. The branch of this tree is divided into three, but two of them died. Since legend has it that piling stones around the stump leads to long life, there are lots of stones piled up. The pine tree of Seorak-dong is biologically valuable and has long been worshipped by the local community as a village guardian. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
