Description

Uiamsong Pine Tree in Jangsu-ri, Jangsu was known that it was planted by Non Gae, who’s also known as Uiam. Thus, this tree is called Uiamsong. This pine tree is about 400 years old, 9m tall with girth of 3.22m. It is growing in front of the entrance of the Jangsu-gun Office, with Uiamsa Shrine -- which enshines the portrait of Non Gae -- and Uiam Lake in the neighborhood. This tree has one trunk, which is twisted clockwise and shaped like a screw. Locals say it looks like a dragon twisting its body. The branches on the top of the tree are divided into many spindles, forming what looks like an umbrella. Uiamsong in Jangsu-ri, Jangsu, has thrived for a long time thanks to ancestors' concern and care. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument, serving as very valuable material in biological history.
