Description
In the Dinosaur and Bird Tracksite in Deongmyeong-ri of Goseong are fossilized footprints of dinosaurs that lived in the Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic era. It is a world-renowned fossil site in terms of quantity and variety of fossils. This place is also known for the fossilized footprints of birds that lived in the Mesozoic era. Various sedimentary drifts and many living traces of lives in those days are found in this place. Therefore, it is an important place for environment research particularly the living conditions of dinosaurs, natural environment of the Mesozoic era, sedimentary environment, distribution of sea and land, and course of evolution of a bird. The Dinosaur and Bird Tracksite in Deongmyeong-ri of Goseong not only has many tracks of extinct animals and plants but also boasts of beautiful scenery. Therefore, it has been designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
