Description
Chagwido Island consists of two deserted islands, Jukdo Island and Wado Island. It is about 2 km away from the coast along Gosan-ri, Jeju-do. The Sea around Chagwido Island is the foremost area influenced by Kurosio Current which passes beside the Korean Peninsula. Thus, many kinds of maritime beings are living around the island. A number of red algae live at 5 - 10 meters below sea level. Chagwido Natural Reserve is a habitat where undocumented species of marine animals and plants live and is highly valued academically. Thus, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
