Description
Bengdwigul is one of the most complicated labyrinth-type lava tube systems in the world. With a total length of 4,481 meters, the subterranean tubes were created by volcanic processes in which lava streams continuously flowed through labyrinthine courses on flat land. As it was formed close to the surface of the ground, the roof collapsed, forming many depressions. The interior of the cave has many two- or three-level structures and well-developed lava columns and bridges. Along with Manjangul Lava Tube, this is part of the Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.
