Description
This flowerpot is believed to date back to the Goryeo Period. It has height of 23 cm, mouth diameter of 28.2 cm, and base diameter of 22 cm. At the middle of its base is a hole with diameter of 6 cm to drain water from the pot. The lip of the pot is rolled outward, and the body is divided into two areas by two lines with similar thickness, circling it at the middle and lower parts. There are three sets of clouds and cranes placed alternately in the upper area; clouds are expressed in white, whereas cranes are created with the black and white inlaying technique. The lower area is filled with overlapping lotus flower petals. Although its surface is divided into two areas, the cloud and crane designs on the upper area stand out because the designs on the lower area have been made with shallow engraved lines. The glaze used on this celadon hardly shows any gloss, and minute cracks are widespread on the partially yellow green surface.
