Description
Poems by Du Fu, Korean Translation, Volume 11 is a book compiled with DU Fu (712-770)’s poems classified per the content, referring to footnotes. DU Fu was a poet of the Tang Dynasty of China. The work was done by RYU Yungyeom (penname Jeonhan/1420-?) and JO Wi (1454-1503) of the Office of Special Advisers and Monk Euichim by the order of King Sejong in 1481 (the 12th year of King Sejong’s reign). This is the first edition of the anthology printed with Eulhae metal type and Hangeul (Korean alphabetic script) metal type mixed with Eulhae metal type. Among them, Volume 11, designated as Treausure No. 1052-2 is the only volume 11 left. Chapters 1 through 8 are missing in Part 11 designated as Treasure No. 1051-5, but the existing parts display the original works in good order and thus are regarded as very valuable. It is thought that they are important materials for those studying Korean linguistics, as they display what features of Hangeul were like right after its creation in 1443.
