Description
The Gangneunghyanggyo Local Confucian School has two 5-kan* spaces for enshrining mortuary tablets (dongmu and seomu) and a roofed corridor (jeollang) leading to a space where teachers and students paid homage to the Confucian saints. The two spaces occupy the front courtyard of Daeseongjeon Hall, were sacrificial rites were offered to Confucius and the great Confucian scholars, and exhibit traditional architectural features such as the well-placed ventilation windows and members supported by pillow-shaped supports. The corridor, which leads to Daeseongjeon Hall, is thought to have been built before the gate with roof, and was repaired in 1721, since when the structures have been preserved without any major changes.
