Description
Nongunjeongsa House is a historic site where the country’s great scholars and politicians would gather to learn from Yi Hwang (pen-name: Toegye), a great Confucian scholar of the Joseon period, in their early days. This well-preserved hall is a dotomari structure, i.e. a “工”-shaped house with a kitchen in the center, flanked by a room on each side, with a wooden-floored room-storage space situated to the rear of each room. The overall design was produced by the monk- craftsman Beobyeon, while the construction was completed by his disciple Jeongil.
