Description
Gyeongnyul isang is a kind of encyclopedia compiled by extracting the main points of each subject from gyeong (scripture) and yul (law) of Buddhist texts. Published in 1243 (30th year of the reign of King Gojong of the Goryeo Dynasty), this book is the eighth of 50 volumes. Its printing woodblocks were carved in Namhae, and the engravers’ names are marked, showing differences in elaborateness and density according to the workmanship of the engraver. This book is mutually complementary with the research on Tripitaka published in the Goryeo Period.
