Description
This book is a professional medicine book on how to prevent diseases with foods. Originally published in the 21st year of King Jungjong’s reign (1526) with a preface edited by Yo Mun-cheong of the Ming Dynasty of China, it was republished with Gapjin-ja, a copper typeset, during the reigns of King Jungjong and King Myeongjong (1526 to 1556). This book consists of two volumes; the contents are classified into 8 categories: water, grains, vegetables, fruits, poultry, meats, fish, and rice. The first volume of this book deals with 212 foods in 4 categories, which are water, grains, vegetables, and fruits. On the other hand, the second volume deals with 175 foods in 4 categories: poultry, meats, fish, and rice. In each category, the taste, nature, benefits, and toxicity of each food are described. At the end of each category is a summary of each food. As a rare medicine book, it provides valuable information in studying bibliography.
