Description
These sarira reliquaries were discovered at a stone stupa of Sujongsa Temple in Namyangju when it was rebuilt in 1939. The reliquaries consist of a lidded celadon jar, nine-storied gilt-bronze pagoda, and hexagonal silver-gilt shrine containing a crystal sarira bottle. The miniature pagoda and shrine were housed in the celadon jar at the time of discovery. The jar is 31.2 centimeters in height and 26 centimeters in diameter of the mouth, and silver shrine and bronze pagoda 17.3 centimeters and 12.9 centimeters in height respectively.
