Description
Myobeopyeonhwagyeong, or simply Beophwagyeong, is the basic sutra of Cheontaejong, one of Korean Buddhist sects with its main idea is that any can attain Buddhahood. Along with Hwaeomgyeong, Beophwagyeong has vastly influenced the establishment of Korean Buddhism and is also the most widely read Korean Buddhist sutra. It is written in gold on indigo paper. Part 6 out of seven parts of Myobeopyeonhwagyeong is foldable and is 34.8cm long and 10.6cm width. According to the record in the last part, it was donated by a person named Roh Yu-rin in 1388 (the 14th year of the reign of King U). While the cover design and the calligraphic style aren't that refined when compared to other sutras, the exact year of publication written in the book is what makes this book valuable and unique.
