Description
Jachi Tonggam (Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government) is a history book compiled in a chronological style by Sima Gwang (1019-1086), a statesman of the Northern Song Dynasty of China. Kings of the Joseon Dynasty often referred to the book when dealing with state affairs. Jachi Tonggam Vol. 129 ~ 132 are parts of the woodblock-printed copies published in 1436 (the 18th year of the reign of King Sejong). Jachi Tonggam Vol. 129 ~ 132 lacks an epilogue about the printing, but the fourth line of Chapter 1 of each Part contains a phrase meaning that it was compiled at Sajeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace. These look similar to their counterparts designated as Treasures in terms of their bibliographic form and typeface, etc. The facts tell us that Jachi Tonggam Vol. 129 ~ 132 is a part of the woodblock-printed books published in 1436 by the Printing Typecasting Office. The existence of Parts 129 and 130 first became known at the same time as these(~130 is recently became known), giving researchers a clearer picture of the book published in 1436.
