Description
These two royal edicts were issued to Kim Hoe-ryeon. One, written in the "running-hand" style of Chinese penmanship, was issued in 1395 (the 4th year of the reign of King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty), the year of his appointment to the posts of magistrate of Gongju and Defense Minister; and the other, written in the cursive style of Chinese penmanship, was issued in 1397, the year of his appointment as the magistrate of Haeju. The king’s seal was printed on royal edicts. These two royal edicts are rare ancient documents that have been well preserved along with Kim’s certificate of meritorious subject (Treasure No. 437) at Yeonsigak House.
