Description
This royal edict of appointment as Sukbuin (investiture with the title of nobility) was issued to Yi Sun-sin’s wife Bang on November 26, 1591 (the 24th year of the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty). As Admiral Yi Sun-sin was serving as the Commander of the Left Jeolla Province Naval Forces at that time, his wife was invested with the title Sukbuin in keeping with her husband’s position, in accordance with the Gyeongguk Daejeon (National Code).
