Description
This framed calligraphy by Heo Mok (1595-1682) reads ‘Aegunuguk,’ written on two separate sheets of paper that were joined together afterward. The characters in this item are the largest in size among the surviving framed works of Heo Mok. The item is in a decent state of preservation. Five seal marks are visible on either side of the calligraphy. Along with ‘Hamchwidang’ in the collection of the Korea University Museum, this work is a great telling example of Heo Mok’s large-character seal script style. The strokes in this work are particularly powerful and vigorous.
