Description
Eupgungjinjangcheop is a collection of calligraphic works by King Yeongjo (1694~1776) of the Joseon Dynasty. This collection contains the king’s response to the address to the throne written on the 16th day of January on the lunar calendar, 1716, and examples of his poetry written in lines of four characters, including the poem Seosiokdang, which was presented to his grandson Yi San (later to become King Jeongjo), and an official of the Hongmungwan written on July 11, 1770 (the 46th year of the reign of King Yeongjo), that was related to Yimhapilgi (records collected by Yi Yo-won); and his signboard ‘Haksagwan.’ As this collection by King Yeongjo, decorated in the style of an official court document of the late Joseon Dynasty, was produced after strictly selecting from among the calligraphic works produced by the king in his later years (1761, 1765, and 1770), and has been preserved in good condition, it is regarded as a valuable material for study of the royal calligraphy of the Joseon Dynasty.
