Description

Two pagodas face each other at the east and the west in the downstream of the tributary stream of the Nakdonggang River. The western pagoda had collapsed and was reconstructed in 1979. Although the eastern pagoda has a different style with a one-story platform, it was constructed in the same manner as the western one and is equipped with a two-story platform, but the bottom story is buried in the ground. The bottom platform has a two-pillar decoration not only on the corners but also on the center. One pillar decoration is engraved on the corner and the center of the top platform. Assembled into one piece, the roof stone and the core stone form a story of the main part of the pagoda. Each story has the pillar engraved in the corner. The roof stone keeps the eaves horizontal and the corners turned up. Each platform is composed of four layers. The two pillars placed on the center of the bottom platform but one at the top shows that the pagoda was built around the ninth century, as does the four-layer strut for the roof stone at the main part of the pagoda. During repair work, a sarira container was discovered in the first story of the main part of the pagoda.
