Description

This is a Bodhisattva carved on evenly processed granite. It has a magnificent bead crown with a long horn placed horizontally around it. These features are the same as those of the stone Bodhisattva of Hansongsa and Sinboksa Temple sites. Dignity is conveyed by half-opened eyes and long ears, but the smile on the lips and cheeks is merciful. It is fat, but the arms are comparatively meager. There is a lotus stem in its hand, and flowers are carved boldly on the shoulders. It has a prosperous and imposing appearance, and in view of its clothing, crown type and bodily expression, it is thought to have been made in early Goryeo.
