Description

When the anti-Buddhism movement occurred in China, Hobeomnon was written by Jang Sangyeong to protect the law of Buddha through comparing Buddhism with Confucianism and Taoism. This is a block book printed on mulberry paper and bound in one volume measuring 22 cm by 15 cm. From the epilogue written by Yi Saek, we know that it was reprinted by order of the High Monk Hwanam in 1379, the 5th year of King Uh’s reign in Goryeo. Judging by the elaborate engraving and clear writing, it appears to have been printed and published immediately after engraving.
