Description
These four volumes of the Lotus Sutra (or Saddharmapundarika Sutra) were printed in 1448 via using the woodblocks carrying the text translated into Chinese by Kumarajiva (334-413) and annotated by a Song scholar-monk Jiehuan (fl. 12th c.) and handwritten by Seong Dal-saeng (1376-1444) and his brother Seong Gae (?-1440). Together with another four-volume collection of the sutra in the same edition (collected by Adan Books) which is also designated as a Treasure, the book is widely regarded as an important historical source for the study of calligraphy and Buddhist publications of early Joseon.
