Description
This is a gilt-bronze Bodhisattva statue exhibited at the Ho-Am Art Museum. Even with a part of neck repaired and the right hand disappeared, it retains a beautiful physical shape. The hair is raised up and tied in a large volume and there remain a part of a crown and its past mark. The face wears a mild smile and the long ears come down to the shoulders. The upper body has a thick chest and slim waist and the formative features are emphasized, while the lower part of body is long and slender. The robe has a wave pattern and over the lower part of body it is thin with long elliptical pleats so that the contour of body is visible. With its well composed physical shape and soft countenance, this is an outstanding work, believed to have been made in the 7th century.
