Description

This well-preserved bronze bell, which measures 73.5 cm in height, was kept at the Bongseonsa Temple, and it was relocated to Hyeondeungsa Temple during the Japanese occupation. The bell is presumed to be made in 1619. It is similar to the one that made during the late Goryeo Period, and it displays similar features to Chinese bells. The information inscribed in the middle section of the bell shows the production period, those who participated in making it, the materials used, and why it was made. The bronze bell of Hyeonjongsa Temple serves as invaluable research for the late Joseon Dynasty production.
