Description
The Bronze Ritual Object with Farming Scene is a bronze object engraved with a landscape containing a man tilling a field and a woman trying to catch a bird on one side, and a group of birds perched in the forked branches of two trees on the other. The object, which is conjectured to have been used as a ritual tool during the Bronze Age, has lost much of its lower half but is nevertheless widely regarded as a valuable part of the Korean cultural heritage as it contains vivid visual information about the activities of Bronze Age people, including the worship of supernatural powers and work. The central motif is carved in low relief, while the decorative designs are incised around the edges, which, together with the square holes along its upper edge, show that it was made using a complex casting technique.
