Description
This five-story stone pagoda (height: 3.6m) is located in the precincts of Bongjeongam Hermitage, a Buddhist monastery established at the foot of Socheongbong Peak (1666 meters) of Seoraksan Mountain. The pagoda is regarded as a rare work that sheds light on the development of Korean Buddhist architecture in the Goryeo period, particularly as it was erected on the base of a natural rock to enshrine the “true body” of Shakyamuni Buddha.
