Description
This is a portrait of Seo Mun-jung (1634-1709), a Neo-Confucian scholar-official who passed the state examination in 1680 before serving the Joseon dynasty in a number of key government positions, including the head of various ministries. The portrait is widely praised for its artistic merit and regarded as a fine example of the typical full-length portraits of government officer in business attires in seated position produced during the late Joseon period.
