Description
These woodblocks used to print Gyechosim haginmun (Admonitions for the Beginners in Learning), currently stored in Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon, have been preserved in good condition overall, although two of the forty-seven blocks forming the complete original set are missing. They are the oldest extant woodblocks produced for eonhaebon (i.e. works translated into Korean using the newly invented Korean writing system), and as such are regarded as an important primary source for study of the Korean language in the early Joseon period.
