Description
This collection of thirty-eight printing woodblocks stored at Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon is carved with the text of Cheonji myeongyang suryuk jammun (Miscellaneous Writings on the Dharma Function for the Spirits of Heaven and Earth, Darkness and Brightness, Water and Land). The book was published several times during the Joseon period (1392-19110), but it is the 1464 edition printed with movable metal types under the auspices of the royal family and the 1496 xylographic edition printed at Pyohunsa Temple that are particularly highly appreciated among those published before the Songgwangsa Edition. However, none of the woodblocks used to print the two earlier editions have survived, making the Songgwangsa collection the earliest extant set of printing blocks of the book.
